Mr. Chung was born in a Hakka village in Hsin Beishi, Pingdong. His family had been growing crops such as rice, bananas, wax apples, and betel nuts for generations. Having spent most of his childhood in a traditional Hakka village, he was exposed to many Hakka customs and learned their origins. Mr. Chung left home at a young age and studied Theatre Arts at National Defense University. After he graduated, he served as an artist in the military. He once led the performance unit in the army and also acted in several TV shows and movies. After Mr. Chung retired, he settled in Vancouver with his family to experience the diverse culture and enjoy his retirement life. Through Vancouver Taiwan Hakka Association, he met many people of Hakka descent, whom make him feel at home overseas. At TAIWANfest, Mr. Chung will lead the audience to experience Hakka culture through exploring Hakka customs.
